Audrain County Recorder
The County Recorder of Deeds keeps official records of real estate transfers, deeds of trust, UCC (Chattel Mortgages), subdivision plats, surveys, discharges from armed services, tax liens, and marriage licenses. The earliest records in this office start in 1837. The marriage records are cross indexed under the bride and groom names since that time. The bride and groom have to appear before the Recorder of Deeds or a Deputy Recorder of Deeds to make application for a license. There is a 3 day waiting period before the license can be issued. A blood test is not required in the state of Missouri. A marriage license and certificate of marriage cost $47.00 in Audrain County. A certified copy is $9.00 and a certification is $2.00. This office records all documents dealing with land transactions in Audrain County. These have also been kept since 1837 and are indexed by year and name. The cost to record any document except plats, surveys, service discharges and tax liens will be $18.00 for the first page and $3.00 a page for each page following in that document. Copies are $1.00 per page and $1.00 for certification of a document. Plats are $38.00 for the first page and $25.00 for each additional page for an 18 x 24 inch document. Surveys are $18.00 for the first page and $5.00 for each additional page for an 18 x 24 inch document. Service Discharges are free to record and to receive copies or certified copies. Federal Tax Liens are $9.00 to file and $7.50 to discharge.
